Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision, the Research Equipment Support Technician will manage, plan, and oversee routine and varied work in the skilled maintenance, repair, and modification of a variety of electronic, HVAC-R controlled, and plumbed research equipment, including temperature controlled incubators, plant growth chambers, centrifuges, cold rooms, -80 freezers, DI and RO Water systems and other appliances as necessary for the College of Arts & Sciences.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires job related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree in applicable trades (HVAC-R, electronics technology, plumbing) and 4 years experience in commercial or residential trades occupation.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to use a computer. Ability to develop and maintain strong customer service skills, including maintaining harmonious working relationships with departmental staff. Knowledge of equipment operation and repair is necessary. Ability to troubleshoot and identify mechanical issues with research equipment. Knowledge of HVAC-R, Plumbing, and Electrical Systems.
