The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is.
The USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (INI, www.ini.usc.edu) are world leaders in the development of advanced computational and scientific approaches for the comprehensive mapping of brain structure and function. INI's unique multidisciplinary environment and cutting-edge resources allow for integration of clinical, psychological, and genotypic information with neuroimaging phenotypes for research questions in neurology, psychiatry, and environmental neuroscience.
The INI seeks highly-qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Research Neurology (non-tenure track). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years experience with leading large-scale multi-site initiatives in neuroimaging including multimodal MRI studies of aging and Alzheimer's disease, and both genetic and environmental contributors to suboptimal brain aging. Experience working in the neurovirology, specifically the effects of chronic HIV infection on the brain, is a plus.
Candidates must be skilled in applying data and computer science methods to large-scale neuroimaging datasets, and driving innovation. The candidate should have experience in managing and coordinating team science initiatives that include image analytics and relating clinical and neuropsychological data to brain imaging markers, especially brain tissue microstructure. Advanced knowledge of diffusion MRI pipelines and processing, across multiple clinical and research datasets is required.
The candidate must be able to display strong mentorship skills, and must excel at oral and written scientific communication. The individual should be nationally and internationally recognized for their technical and scientific leadership as demonstrated by their publication record in premier medical and imaging conferences and journals.
The ideal candidate has a PhD degree in Neuroscience or a related field with a strong background in interdisciplinary computational neuroscience research, with rigorous training and experience in the elements of modern neuroimaging, including neurobiology, neuroanatomy, image processing, and computational modeling. Deep knowledge of the current challenges and state-of-the-art techniques for structural and microstructural brain mapping, particularly large-scale data analysis, multi-site modeling, statistics, and visualization of magnetic resonance imaging datasets, is required.
The University of Southern California strongly values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity in employment.
Minimum education: PhD
Preferred qualifications: 3 years postdoctoral training
Minimum field of expertise: sound knowledge of brain-behavior relationships in clinical and non-clinical populations, particularly in older adults. Knowledge of structural and diffusion MRI techniques, big data methodologies, and multi-cohort data harmonization.

The annual base salary range for this position is $58,240-$66,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
