What are the responsibilities and job description for the PPS Clerical Assistant - Acute Rehab Unit - Full Time 8 Hours Day position at University of Southern California?
The PPS Clerical Assistant provides support to the Director for oversight and coordination of the timely and accurate completion of the Patient Assessment Instrument for each rehabilitation inpatient. This individual gathers, enters and edits the information contained in the system for each patient with review by a clinician to assure accuracy in the scoring of functional status and reflection of the patient's care needs. In addition, this position may assist in the ongoing monitoring of identified benchmarks for the inpatient population. The PPS Clerical Assistant has access to confidential patient information and maintains confidentiality of all information.
Minimum Education :
High School or equivalent
Minimum Experience :
1 year Medically related field.
Minimum Skills :
Capable of following oral and written instructions in English and communicating effectively with patients, therapists and other personnel within the hospital.
Word processing skills. Capable of producing letters and reports with proper grammar and spelling.
Capable of reading the policy and procedure manual and understanding information pertaining to specific job duties and the general information for all hospital employees.
Capable of working assigned shifts, overtime when approved.
Capable of learning basic computer concepts, back-up procedures, managing mainframe computer for the functions of billing, in patient orders.
Telephone capabilities. Can handle multiple telephone calls concurrently, managing incoming calls for multiple areas (Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy - for outpatient, acute, TCU, and other hospital departments)
Required Certifications :
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
Preferred Skills :
Previous experience working in inpatient rehabilitation is preferred
