The Senior Financial Counselor Representative provides daily leadership support including monitoring work quality, assisting with workflow questions, and assisting manager with attendance. Has an in-depth knowledge on all the functions of the Insurance Verification, Authorization, Financial Counseling and full knowledge in Managed Care Payors, Medicare, MediCal and Letters of Agreement.
Essential Duties:
- Must be collegial, professional and have self-initiative taking ownership of assigned work, and having the ability to work independently
- Conduct daily huddles to keep team members informed
- Conduct quality assurance on all encounters to ensure encounters have been accurately completed with the appropriate documentation standards
- Timely and open communication with all parties involved including keeping manager informed
- Responsible for providing continuous education and training on all aspects of job
- Proficient in reading and interpreting Determination of Financial Risk (DOFR) and Letter Of Agreement
- Proficient in interpreting and completing insurance verification process for all types of payers including: HMO's Commercial, Senior & Medi Cal, PPO, POS, EPO, Capitation, Military, Workmen's Compensation, Medicare and Medi Cal
- Proficient in submitting requests for authorizations for all types of services and to all payer types
- Proficient in understanding and selecting appropriate Plan codes and FSC, based on the patients payer
- Proficient in calculating patient financial responsibility
- Achieve a standard of excellence with work processes and outcomes, while honoring University policies and all regulatory requirements
- Customer focused and always striving for high customer satisfaction
- Provides their Manager with assisting with performance evaluations and Kronos
Required Qualifications:
- Req High school or equivalent
- Req 5 years Combined knowledge in Insurance Verification, Authorization submission and Financial Counseling experience.
- Req Thorough knowledge in patient accounts, admission and insurances.
- Req Demonstrates leadership.
- Req Knowledgeable in Managed Care Payors, Medicare, MediCal and Letters of Agreement.
- Req Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.

Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The hourly rate range for this position is $25.00 - $39.69.
