The Department of Mathematics in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, seeks to fill a Simons Collaboration Assistant Professor (RTPC) of Mathematics position with an anticipated start date of August 2024. This particular position has additional support from the Simons collaboration grant No. 999367, New Structures in low-dimensional topology, and will be supervised by Professor Cris Negron. This is a teaching and research-track position with a term of up to 3 years and a teaching load of 2-semester courses per year.
Competitive applicants should have experience working in one or more of the following areas: quantum topology, quantum groups, tensor categories, the mathematics of quantum field theory, conformal field theories and vertex operator algebras, and/or related topics. Candidates should demonstrate great promise in research and evidence of strong teaching. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of study.

The annual base salary range for this position is $74,000 - $85,000.
