Position Summary
The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications forCareer Coordinator.
The Career Coordinator is responsible for administering and supporting career programs and services, building relationships with stakeholders (students, alumni, faculty, employers, and other internal and external partners), and implementing student programming initiatives in collaboration with the Career Services and Employer Engagement Coordinator. Primary services provided by the Career Coordinator include individual career coaching/advising to students and alumni of the university; identifying and promoting internship, part-time and full-time employment opportunities; and providing career-related education through workshops, classroom presentations, and instructional guides. In order to support active involvement within the larger University of Southern Indiana community, staff may also be encouraged to represent the department on regional or campus committees and advisory boards. This is a full-time, twelve-month position reporting to the Provost's Office.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide career advising to students and alumni on topics such as career exploration, job search, internships, and graduate school applications.
- Critique resumes, cover letters, and professional profiles; advise on networking and interview strategies.
- Guide students in setting educational and career goals, including registration for internship courses.
- Stay updated on job market trends and opportunities; connect students with relevant employers.
- Develop and deliver career-related workshops, events, and resources in-person and online.
- Maintain accurate records in career services systems and ensure up-to-date employer and student information.
- Promote Career Services programs and initiatives to students, employers, and campus stakeholders.
- Along with the Career Services Employer Engagement Coordinator, conduct employer site visits, develop partnerships, and expand work/internship opportunities.
- Teach or support professional development courses as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and departments to support career initiatives and serve as liaison to assigned College(s).
- Collaborate with campus departments, student organizations, and advisory boards.
- Represent the university at professional events and serve on committees.
- Support Career Services team activities and perform other assigned duties.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
- One-year related experience; post-graduation experience desired.
- Must possess excellent organizational and counseling skills.
- Must possess excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess knowledge of job-seeking and resume development techniques.
- Must work well as part of a team and be willing to work collaboratively with designated staff
- Knowledge of personal computers, e-mail, word processing, and database software.
- Ability to work with diverse individuals.
- Valid US driver's license.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Master's degree.
- Experience with the Internet, and Internet based job search tools, highly preferred.
