Position Summary
The University of Southern Indiana’s Undergraduate Admission office seeks applications for a Transfer Student Admissions Counselor to assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and recruitment program designed to meet enrollment objectives for a range of applicants including but not limited to transfer students, non-degree seeking and other special student populations.
Duties/Responsibilities
Coordinate with Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Assistant Director of Admissions on a comprehensive recruitment and travel program in assigned territory.- Work closely with the Office of the Registrar staff to ensure timely processing of files
- Assume general admissions responsibilities such as travel for recruitment purposes, reviewing admissions files, and giving admissions presentations on and off campus.
- Mediate relations between the university and incoming students, counseling staff members at community colleges and other relevant parties.
- Develop and propose strategic, innovative, and cost efficient programs in response to anticipated and emerging needs

Regularly monitor measurable goals and objectives to insure that prospective students and applicants receive timely and exemplary service during the admissions process. - Assist with the implementation and execution of strategic marketing and communication efforts for admissions.
- Serve as liaison with assigned University college/school(s) and/or campus offices to coordinate recruitment

Assist with the management of application review process. -
- Serve as liaison to assigned Community Colleges system to ensure students have a seamless transfer experience to USI
Collaborate with appropriate personnel to streamline the undergraduate transfer student admissions process
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Bachelor’s degree.- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in both a counseling and public relations capacity with prospective students and the community.
- Ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Organizational ability, high energy, and creative initiative.
- Strong interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of computers, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and presentation software.
- Valid driver’s license or alternate means of reliable transportation.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Previous admission, higher education, and/or marketing experience.- Knowledge of the offerings of the University and an understanding of the mission of the University is desired.
Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements
- Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Irregular work hours including nights and weekends may be required to meet with prospective students or during special programs/events.
- Frequent overnight travel within designated region required.
