Position Details
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at The University of Tampa has an opening for an Assistant Director of Student Support Services. This position collaborates with different departments in the general responsibility of supporting students in their efforts to make full use of the opportunities available to them. The Assistant Director provides advice, and counsel to students and groups from diverse backgrounds and administer programs and activities aimed at providing belonging in, and exposure to, diverse cultures and ethnic groups for all constituents of the College. The Assistant Director reports to the Chief Diversity Officer.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Manages the Program Coordinator for first-generation student support and provides general oversight of the success scholars program via the coordinator.
- Support with oversight of services, including budgeting, supervision, mentoring, coaching, and team building within the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (ODEI).
- Manages the Development and day-to-day success of "Unity" organization.
- Serve on the Chief Diversity Officer's Leadership team.
- Represent ODEI on institutional committees regarding a broad range of issues.
- Support with developing a culture and climate that promotes an environment supportive of a diverse population.
Collaboration, Assessment and Administration
Qualifications
1. Master's degree in higher education or related field required.
2. People and community centered approach to the work of DEI.
3. A minimum of three years of full-time, relevant higher education experience.
4. Demonstrated understanding of how to support diverse communities.
5. Proven human centered and data informed approach.
6. Strong and broad knowledge of identity development models.
7. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational communication.
8. Strong time management and prioritization.
9. Flexible hours required to support evening and weekend event.
10. Working knowledge of data analysis tools, social media platforms and Microsoft Office.
10. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.
Summer : Monday-Thursday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m.
Evenings and weekends may be required.
