Position Details
Business Services at The University of Tampa has an opening for a Purchasing Supervisor. The Purchasing Supervisor oversees the purchasing and procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services necessary for the University's daily operations, to include contract negotiations, managing vendor relations, and leading formal RFPs. Additional responsibilities include facilitating campus trainings, managing vendor relationships, staying current on industry standards and best practices, and the supervision of other Purchasing staff.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains purchasing strategies that align with industry standards and best practices.
- Reviews and processes high volume of purchase orders.
- Manages other members of the purchasing team.
- Maintains records of goods ordered and received.
- Negotiates prices and contracts with suppliers.
- Builds and maintains relationships with vendors.
- Leads RFPs and formal bid processes for campus departments.
- Creates and provides trainings for campus community partners.
- Works with our existing Cooperative Partnerships for cost savings opportunities.
- Assists with monthly and year-end closing procedures for Purchasing.
- Assists departments with transportation needs to include bus reservations and vehicle booking.
- Continuously evaluates and improves procurement practices, including identifying cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements.
- Prepares and presents reports on procurement activities, performance metrics and cost savings to higher management.
- Develops and maintains procurement metrics to track performance, identify areas for improvement and report on sourcing effectiveness.
- Stays updated on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to sourcing activities.
- Maintains information advertised on the Purchasing website.
- Ensures active suppliers are in good standing and obtaining most current documents.
- Participates in scheduled, semi-annual testing, as updates are implemented by Workday.
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.
Summer : Monday-Thursday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
