Job Summary:
The Med-Surg RN provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of nursing principles and standards. The RN assesses patient health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, and maintains accurate medical records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures safely and accurately.
- Monitor, record, and report changes in patients’ conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care.
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and post-hospital care.
- Manage medical equipment and technology used for monitoring and treating patients.
- Prioritize and organize patient care activities based on acuity and workload.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality and patient rights in all interactions.
- Document nursing interventions and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and continuing education.
Required Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN license in the practicing state.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 year of nursing experience, preferably in a Med-Surg setting.
