Position Summary:
Supports and assists the Infection Prevention Manager with daily operations of the overall hospital Infection Prevention program. Assumes responsibility for Infection Prevention departmental functions in the absence of the IP Manager. Assists with development, implementation, and monitoring of Infection Prevention functions. Maintains the reporting system for high risk diagnosis, patient groups, physicians and specific care processes. Consults, educates, and assists others in achieving desirable Infection Prevention outcomes. Makes suggestions on revisions on Infection Prevention policies for practice changes and development of guidelines in order to enhance positive outcomes. Leads interdisciplinary teams in the review and analysis and recommendation of practice changes and development of guidelines in order to enhance clinical and financial outcomes, as relates to infection prevention issues.
Position Qualification:
1-2 years related experience in a hospital acute care setting
2 years clinical experience
Hospital Epidemiology experience preferred
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Registered Nurse licensure, Medical Technologist or equivalent licensure Infection Control Certification (CIC) preferred.
Years of Experience can be related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The performance of key responsibilities must meet expectations as defined in the performance standards of this position description.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function. A team member who does not meet attendance standards outlined in the Personnel Policy, Attendance and Tardiness, is not qualified for this position.
