Job Description

The University of Tennessee Knoxville, College of Social Work, through the Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (SWORPS) is accepting applications for a Coordinator for the Tennessee Child Support Employment & Parenting Program (TCSEPP). Within SWORPS, the TCSEPP Coordinator functions as a case manager for a child support program funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS). The TCSEPP team has the mission to help non-custodial parents overcome barriers to employment in order to become stable, obtain employment, pay child support, become self-sufficient, and be an active parent in their child(ren)'s lives.

Responsibilities

The TCSEPP Coordinator responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Determine participant eligibility and properly assess participants' barriers and make appropriate referrals for identified barriers
  • Develop individual action plans for participants and provide one-on-one case management to participants to assist them with job readiness activities and emotional support and encouragement
  • Maintain accurate records of all participant interactions in appropriate places, i.e. TCSES, Apricot, Excel spreadsheet, etc.
  • Monitor participants' child support eligibility & payments; program involvement & compliance, and employment
  • Maintain balances of petty cash account, procurement card, and any other assigned financial information
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local agencies to assist participants with barriers to employment
  • Attend community interagency meetings to learn about and share available resources and information
  • Participate in partner meetings
  • Provide consultation to evaluators regarding program progress
  • Provide regular updates to Child Support staff and attorneys on participant progress
  • Maintain a court presence to foster a positive relationship with the Child Support legal system and to recruit and/or enroll potential participants
  • Participate in job/resource fairs 
  • Help to develop and maintain outreach materials, i.e. brochures

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (three additional years of experience can be substituted for Bachelor’s degree)
  • Experience: Two years of experience in customer / client service
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Skills in case management; ability to assess participant needs; skill in interacting with a diverse group including partners, attorneys and employers; ability to advocate for participants, ability to work independently and within a team setting; ability to travel to multiple counties and to be flexible in scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: Experience working with non-custodial parents and /or Employment programs; Experience collaborating with community groups and/or social service organizations; Demonstrated experience working with Tennessee Child Support Enforcement System (TCSES) and Apricot databases.

Work Location

  • The position is remote but requires a flexible schedule to accommodate travel and appearances in various counties in Dyer and Lake counties in West Tennessee. Position requires candidate have an automobile at his/her disposal, a valid driver’s license and current automobile liability policy with continuous coverage.
