Job Summary
The Building Services Supervisor performs supervisory duties, directing and coordinating housekeeping and custodial staff and related services in the University’s recreational facilities, including two (2) swimming pools. Responsible for the supervision of building service employees and for organizing, planning, and directing projects for the custodial department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the performance of general custodial functions and trains staff in proper cleaning procedures and proper operation of all custodial equipment.
- Inspects buildings for cleanliness, completed work, and needed repairs.
- Assist in the inventorying of supplies and equipment.
- Interviews and makes hiring recommendations for custodial workers.
- Performs general cleaning and custodial work.
- Communicates/advises administrative superiors of need for building repairs and maintenance activities.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and implementing cleaning projects.
- Oversees access to campus buildings for custodial workers through key issuance.
- Works in a diverse environment. Encourages, supports, and promotes diversity initiatives.
- Drives a UTA vehicle.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Texas driver license and three (3) years of driving history.
- Three (3) years of experience working in custodial management or services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or Vietnamese.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to effectively execute oral and written instruction in English.
Other Requirements
Working Conditions
- Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
- Must be able to work from stools and ladders.
- Exposure to disagreeable elements such as biohazards, toxic lab chemicals, poisonous gases, dust, and dirt.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., push 100 lbs., pull 50 lbs., bend repeatedly, stand for three to four hours straight, sit, kneel and squat repeatedly.
