Job Details : Purpose

Reporting to the E xecutive Director, Principal Gifts at the Dell Medical School , the Associate Director of Development, Major Gifts and Leadership Giving will identify new prospects, build relationships and raise philanthropic support for Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin . This position will focus on leadership - level annual fund prospects (g ift capacity of $2,500 - $100,000) and developing major gift leads and solicitations of $100,000 or more . This role broadly supports the dynamic mission of the Dell Medical School : to revolutionize how people get and stay healthy.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage a portfolio of 40 - 80 prospective major gift prospects focusing on solicitations of $100,000 and above with mature prospects. Emphasis on portfolio and program building is to be expected in the first 12 - 24 months .

Consistently produce $1.5 million in annual philanthropic support, within 18 months of start date.

Identify , and formally qualify, new major and leadership giving-level prospects by developing and executing long-range and short-range strategies and plans to identify , cultivate, solicit and steward prospects, producing a continuous stream of donors capable of making gifts of $100,000 or more with a focus on unrestricted gifts and pledges for medical education and clinical programs.

Deliver 12-20 proposals at $100,000 or more annually.

Grow the annual giving donor pipeline through phone calls, personal visits, solicitations, stewardship and Dell Med Society engagement.

Plan and execute a target total of 120-150 visits per year and a commensurate number of solicitations.

Partner with manager to plan, develop, and execute a high-level strategy for increasing the total number of leadership- level a nnual f und donors and a complementary strategy to recognize and engage these donors with the school.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop creative cultivation , solicitation and stewardship strategies.

Conduct in-person visits with prospects and donor s . C oordinate on-campus visits and meetings and a rrange for prospects and donors to meet with appropriate faculty and staff to advance relationships and gift conversations.

Deliver timely and effective follow-up to prospects and donors.

Draft compelling letters, proposals and other correspondence as appropriate .

Participate in proposal preparation, strategy development, and stewardship as required for donors in the portfolio.

Help develop and manage cultivation and stewardship events in partnership with the Campaign Strategy & Special Initiatives and Events & Outreach teams.

Attend evening and weekend functions as necessary. Periodic travel may be required .

Maintain strong co mmunication links with various university colleagues to ensure a coordinated approach to prospects and donors.

Assist in preparation and management of expenses. Monitor expendit ures to ensure compliance with u niversity policy and provide timely reporting.

Maintain current strategies, contact reports and records in VIP (the university's Donor Relationship Management System) and associated databases.

Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, sales , or related field . Excellent verbal, writing and interpersonal communication skills . H igh attention to detail and follow up . O utstanding organizational skills. An exceptional work ethic and track record of personal initiative required . Proven self-starter, tenacious, and demonstrated ability to provide high - level customer service. Flexibility and adaptability to new programs in an emerging and changing environment. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and manage details o f several concurrent projects. Experience using reporting tools and donor management software. Proficient in MS Word, Powerpoint , and Excel. Willingness and ability to travel to campus and / or non-campus lo cations for University business, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

H ealthcare fundraising experience highly preferred. Three years of experience on a fundraising team supporting an organization related to health, science, technology, or medicine. Demonstrated success in soliciting and closing individual leadership gifts of $1,000 or more. Experience with fundraising databases and knowledge of prospecting tools and reports within prospective donor relations systems, e.g., Raiser's Edge, Sales Force, etc. Integrity, professionalism, and collegiality along with personal and professional confidence, accompanied by a sense of humor and empathy toward others.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range

68,000 depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility :

Retirement Plan Eligibility :

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
