Job Details:

General Notes

This is a grant funded position with an end date of 5/31/2025, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals.

Final candidate will need to provide official BA/BS degree verification documents from the granting institute.

Purpose

This full-time position at the Fonzo Lab, Dell Medical School, UT Austin, involves assisting ongoing and new research funded by NIMH and private foundations. Responsibilities include participant recruitment, scheduling, administrative tasks, maintaining relationships with participants, data collection including clinical interviews and neuroimaging measures, and assisting with data analysis and manuscript preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, conduct, and analyze research projects as part of a team of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate assistants.

  • Coordinate scheduling of participant visits and manage study related databases.

  • Assist the lab with subject recruitment and executive administrative duties.

  • Assist with manuscripts and publications.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, neuroscience, engineering, computer science, or other STEM-related field. Two years of actively working in data collection in a psychology, psychiatry, social work, counseling, human subjects biomedical research, or related field laboratory. Professional demeanor with tact and respect at all times. Ability to address individuals and health-related information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal or urgent situations. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to lead projects, work independently, and troubleshoot difficulties. Good self-care and stress management skills. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Demonstrated critical thinking skills and excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work well with a culturally diverse group of faculty, staff, and students, including the willingness and ability to train and oversee volunteers, undergraduate, and graduate students. Applicant must be comfortable working in an MR scanner environment, and eventually in operating the scanner (on the job training will be provided). Must be comfortable interacting with and working with people living with psychiatric disorders, including eventual conduction of clinical interviews (training will be provided). Must be willing to occasionally work some nights and/or weekends as needed to facilitate data collection and/or impending deadlines.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree with relevant laboratory experience in clinical research and/or mental/behavioral health field. Previous experience with MRI and/or electroencephalogram acquisition or analysis is a plus. Background in and experience with programming, statistics, and imaging methods preferred. Experience in behavioral assessments and clinical research is also preferred.

Salary Range

$43,000 depending on qualifications
