The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in conjunction with the Seton Healthcare Family, is seeking a board certified / board eligible Psychiatrist to join our clinical faculty and serve in the Emergency Behavioral Health Unit at Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. We seek a physician who will help our department achieve the goal of working with our community partners to develop clinical, educational and research initiatives that revolutionize how people get and stay mentally healthy in Central Texas and beyond. Student loan forgiveness is available for faculty of the Department of Psychiatry through the Texas Mental Health Professionals Loan Repayment Program .

About the Position

The successful candidate's appointment within the department requires regular participation in educational activities with medical students and residents.
Position Details - Emergency Department Psychiatrist
- Full-time Psychiatrist specializing in Emergency Psychiatry at the Emergency Behavioral Health Unit
- 12-hour shifts (likely 11 AM - 11 PM), 11 shifts per month
- Serve as a critical first point of contact for patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises in a high-volume emergency department
- Conduct rapid psychiatric evaluations and consultations for ER and medicine admissions after hours and on weekends
- Work closely with emergency medicine teams to stabilize patients and determine appropriate care pathways
- Supervise and train medical students and residents in emergency psychiatry, crisis management, and acute stabilization techniques
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation in accordance with medical and legal standards
- Board Certified / Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Eligible for faculty appointment at Dell Medical School
