The Texas Consortium for Computational Seismology (TCCS) and Quantitative Clastics Laboratory (QCL) seek a joint-sponsored geology and geophysics postdoctoral researcher appointed to the Jackson School of Geoscience Bureau of Economic Geology. Candidates with strong quantitative and computational backgrounds, as well as some experience interpreting subsurface geology and geophysical data, are invited to apply. Specifically, the TCCS and QCL aim to work with a postdoctoral researcher to develop machine learning algorithms for subsurface, primarily seismic, interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Develop machine learning algorithms for subsurface, primarily seismic, interpretation

• Subsurface interpretation

• Compiling results, writing peer-reviewed papers, formal presentations of findings

• PhD in a related field

• Demonstrated computer programming skills

• Knowledge of deep learning and generative artificial intelligence models

• Interpretation of subsurface geology and geophysical data

• General knowledge/familiarity with clastic depositional systems

• Written publication and oral presentation record

PhD must have been obtained within 3 years of date of hire.
