Purpose

This position will provide management and technical support for a cutting-edge neuroscience laboratory, including assisting with anesthesia and surgical procedures critical for the care and use of experimental animals.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities of this positioninclude :

  • Provide guidance and training to laboratory members related to laboratory operations. Establish and maintain databases of information related to laboratory supplies, materials, procedures, regulations, and operations.
  • Routine health checks involving non-human primates for signs of disease or illness. Assist in training non-human primates.
  • Anesthesia and surgical support for researchers, cleaning and maintaining clinical supplies, sterilization of instruments and surgical pack preparation. Maintenance of medical records, administration of treatments and medication.
  • Maintenance of controlled-substance logs, regulatory documentation and other records for the group. Order and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Preparation of diagnostic samples, assisting in experimental procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., neuroscience, biology, chemistry, bioengineering).
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a wet lab environment, preferably in an academic or research setting.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for working in a laboratory setting, with a commitment to promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Experience working with large animals, preferably non-human primates, including handling and anesthesia.
  • Strong technical expertise in a wide range of laboratory techniques, such as optical imaging, electrophysiology and / or molecular biology.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., neuroscience, biology, chemistry, bioengineering).
  • Salary Range

    55,000 depending on qualifications

    Employment Eligibility :
