Minimum Education and Experience | Bachelor's degree and two years office administration or project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
Preferred Education and Experience | Bachelor's degree in public, business administration, management, or related field; and two years experience performing administrative duties in a position in higher education. An equivalent of relevant education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated experience in event planning and execution. Demonstrated experience working with the public in a customer service role. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities | Provides support for the Office of Graduate Education's procurement to include handling travel arrangements, reimbursements, and financial administration. Also assists in the business operations for OGE Department. Provides customer service support, including answering visitor inquiries at the front desk, answering the Department's main line, and providing refreshments for faculty and departmental guests. Creates a positive workplace culture and educational environment for students and staff. Participates in events supporting the department and the School and University mission, to include set-up/clean-up, ordering food, interacting with caterers, creating and distributing posters, tracking costs for events, and any other activities related to event planning. Supports a variety of special events including the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, Graduate Student Appreciation Week, graduate student workshops, TA/RA Orientations, etc. Provides support for OGE meetings, including taking minutes as needed. Other duties as assigned. |
Physical Demands and Working Conditions | Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. The person in this position must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. |
