Job Summary

The Associate Provost for Curricular Services is a full-time, twelve-month appointment responsible for working with deans, department heads, and faculty on the development and shared governance approval process of new degree programs, academic and professional (non-credit) certificates, digital badging and vendor-supplied third-party course content. The Associate Provost will facilitate external approvals and serve as the liaison to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and to The University of Texas System's Office of Academic Affairs on new academic offerings.

The Associate Provost will supervise four FTE and will attend all meetings of the UT Dallas academic governance system. In addition, the Associate Provost will have responsibility for oversight of the student course feedback policy in partnership with the Committee on Effective Teaching.

Minimum Education and Experience

Master's degree.

5 years higher education work experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the senior director of curricular services (who supervises 2 FTE)
  • Supervise the micro-credentials and digital badging manager
  • Serve as the liaison to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and submit all related requests :

Negotiate new degree and certificate programs, changes to existing programs (name changes, SCH changes, classification of instructional program changes), new core courses, and graduate program review submissions

  • Identify market and student demand for new programs and provide that information to deans and associate deans
  • Review requests for new minors and concentrations
  • Submit admission criteria changes that have been approved by Governance and executive administration to UT System (GRE changes, etc.)
  • Serve as the primary contact for the Curricular Analytics Project (CAP) and collaborate with the Office of Institutional Success and Decision Support (director of academic assessment), Registrar's Office, and program heads on curricular adjustments
  • Serve as the primary contact for the Steppingblocks (alumni placement) platform
  • Review and execute documents related to course delivery (special session forms, core course requests, education abroad courses, and capstone signatory for UTDesign, UTSolv, and UTDiscover)
  • Serve on UT System taskforces (i.e., Transfer Advisory Group and Accelerated Baccalaureate taskforce)
  • Serve as ex officio, non-voting member to Council for Undergraduate Education and the Committee on Educational Policy
  • Attend as recurring guest Core Curriculum Committee, Graduate Council, and Academic Council and Academic Senate meetings
  • Collaborate with Office of Institutional Success and Decision Support on program changes that alter reporting (CIP changes, major name changes, new programs, etc.)
