Job Summary
This position will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Human Nociceptor and Spinal Cord Molecular Signature Center under the direction of Dr. Ted Price. Key duties for this position will be setting meetings for committees, tracking milestone progression, facilitating communication across participating institutions, organizing travel and lodging for yearly meeting, and being responsible for submitting yearly progress reports to NIH.

This is an NIH grant funded position, and continued employment is contingent on the availability of funds.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree; Three to five years experience in a field relevant to the program; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three to five years' experience in Neuroscience, Cell/Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, etc.
  • One to two years' experience in managing projects

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Gathers and organizes information from the three participating institutions (UT Dallas [UTD], University of Washington [UW] and MD Anderson Cancer Center [MDACC]).
  • Analyzes, coordinates, and assists in assembling timely reports to the NIH.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) at UTD to track expenditures and create subcontracts.
  • Acts as the primary liaison with the OSPs at MDACC and UW, with the NIH U19/U24 coordinating group; and with NIH staff overseeing the U19 Centers.
  • Organizes and tracks all Center committee meetings.
  • Ensures that Center goals from meetings are communicated and completed within the specified timeline. Schedules and participates in conferences and scientific and business meetings.
  • Manages and presents Center data and information as needed.
  • Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Reads literature and attends functions to keep abreast of relevant scientific and technical developments related to the Center.
  • Manages travel and itinerary planning for Center visitors.
  • Write (or co-author) funding proposals and progress reports to ensure long-term Center goals are met.
  • May provide supervision to staff members.
  • Other duties: performs other duties as assigned.
