What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at University of Texas at El Paso?
Responsible for the administration of a Division I Track and Field/Cross Country intercollegiate program.
Essential Functions
Responsible for continuous support to the program per director’s daily instructions and feedback. Other duties as assigned per Athletic Director and/or Sports Administrator. Director of Operations is also expected to commit to improving the position itself while on duty by providing analytical feedback upon request how to improve and simplify information flow within the program and through it, “systems over goals” type of approach.
Provides direct support to camp directors, fund-raising director, and acts as a liaison to facility and building maintenance director for the coaching staff. Oversees program’s social media plan execution and is acting staff liaison to UTEP Athletics’ Lifeskills program.
Oversee managers’ work schedules and student-athlete calendars. Assign duties to managers on daily basis and directly supervises them. Provides strong assistance in managing student-athlete academics, compliance logs, ABO paperwork, and various databases. Assists director in building various recruiting and alumni databases.
Active participant in all things related to team travel providing support to director by completing all relevant paperwork in timely manner per team travel agent’s and UTEP ABO’s instructions/deadlines. Ability to travel with all three teams to all away competitions expected.
Fully in charge of supervising and executing all team equipment orders per director’s orders. The individual at Director of Operations position is solely responsible for program’s equipment inventory management and gear/equipment issuance per director’s instructions, managers and other staff members will provide support as needed.

Strong computer skills will greatly assist in carrying out one’s duties effectively and in avoiding detrimental personal backlogs that will be a daily occurrence without these skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree.
and
Experience: One year of experience related to the statement of duties and responsibilities or equivalent combination of education and experience. Past experience as a Track and Field/Cross Country student-athlete or as NCAA Track and Field/Cross Country coach helpful.
Preferred Qualifications: Actual multi-year experience as operations director for any NCAA affiliated sports team.
