Job Summary

Duties
Typical:
- Inspect, tune, voice, regulate and repair pianos.
- Replace worn or defective parts.
- Examine wooden parts for splits, warps or other problems.
- Replace, repair, resurface and/or refinish parts.
- Examine new pianos and ensure proper installation and adjustment.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain specific pianos in concert condition.
- Advise School of Music regarding replacement or refurbishment of keyboard instruments.
- Maintain inventory of all keyboard instruments owned by the School of Music.
Periodic:
- Complete more extensive work than routine maintenance when needed.
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards and innovations.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Purchase and maintain specialized tools.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED. Technical training in piano tuning/instrument repair.
- Four years of experience maintaining, tuning, and repairing pianos that includes work with concert pianos.
- Must own and maintain necessary tools to effectively perform the duties of the position with or without a department supplement.
- Tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions
- Normal music studio and concert hall conditions.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours.
