Job Summary
Provide academic instruction to pre-college participants in the TRIO program. Instructors will plan lessons, provide instruction, and ensure participants are showing academic progress. The Summer Academy will operate from May 12 through June 26. Instructors will teach at UTSA Downtown campus Monday through Wednesday during morning hours. The remaining hours will be towards lesson planning and evaluating students.
This is a temporary position with an expected end date of 06/26/2025. This position may be extended based on availability of funds and departmental need.

Core Responsibilities
- Attends all required professional development days before the program start date.
- Reports to class and other assigned duties on time.
- Be available at least one hour per day for one-on-one tutoring.
- Attends weekly staff meetings.
- Creates lesson plans for daily/weekly instruction.
- Provides the students with clear and concise grading procedures and a description of learning outcomes.
- Administers all quizzes and exams to participants.
- Grades all homework, quizzes, and exams.
- Compiles grades and submits final grades to the Project Director as required.
- Serves as a positive role model and facilitates the participants' personal growth and academic motivation/ achievement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid teaching certificate.
- Experience in teaching K-12 students.
- Experience implementing and delivering instructional materials and evaluation tools.
- Proficiency in inquiry-based learning pedagogy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with grades 9-12th.
- Fluent in Spanish.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrates excellent communication and organization skills.
