Job Summary:
The Licensed Professional Counselor functions as a part of the Lake St. Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic team providing assessments and psychotherapy to children through young adults. Therapist will provide family support and education as needed. Position will also collaborate with physicians and other disciplines to coordinate care.
Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Provides individual psychotherapy for children through young adults.
- Provide client centered evidence-based therapies.
- Provides family sessions and education as needed.
- Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner.
- Refer patients to appropriate level of ongoing care.
- Attend team meetings as scheduled.
- Handle confidential and/or sensitive information with discretion and adherence to HIPAA rules.
- Completion of any training, education, and competencies that are needed annually as assigned.
- Follows appropriate safety, infection control and patient care policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Competent to provide services to children, adolescents, and young adults.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Active listening skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to embrace the client relationship to guide decisions and actions.
- Demonstrates good teamwork.
Required Education / Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology
- Maintain Texas licensure in good standing with scope of practice that encompasses group, individual, and family therapy.
Preferred Education / Experience:
- Three years working in a clinical setting.
- Experience working with children and adolescents.
- LPC-Supervisor status a plus.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Maintain current AHA Heartsaver CPR certification.
- Physical ability to perform SAMA
