University of the Cumberlands actively seeks a Research Compliance and Dissertation Coordinator within the Office of Academic Affairs. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Research Compliance and Dissertation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the university’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and ensuring compliance with ethical research standards and federal regulations. Additionally, the Research Compliance and Dissertation Coordinator brings research experience to the management of dissertation courses, maintaining course shells to ensure content remains current and effective in supporting student success. The individual in this position will collaborate with faculty, students, and administrative stakeholders to facilitate efficient research approval processes and enhance dissertation-related coursework.

Responsibilities include:
- Manage the submission, review, and approval process for IRB applications, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
- Provide guidance and training on research ethics, IRB requirements, and human subjects protection.
- Maintain IRB records, documentation, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Chair the IRB committee to facilitate timely review and approval of research protocols.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IRB-related inquiries from faculty and students.
- Monitor regulatory updates and recommend policy revisions as needed to align with best practices.
- Coordinate workshops and training sessions on IRB processes, dissertation writing, and research ethics.
- Support faculty in mentoring doctoral candidates through the dissertation process.
- Oversee the structure, scheduling, and content delivery of dissertation courses to align with academic standards and institutional goals.
- Ensure dissertation course shells in the Learning Management System (LMS) are regularly updated with relevant content, resources, and assignments.
- Assist with maintaining and setting quality standards and expectations for doctoral research.
- Reviewing dissertations to ensure quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with faculty to enhance dissertation course materials and address student learning needs.
- Provide support to faculty and students in navigating dissertation processes, research methodologies, and academic writing.
- Track student progress in dissertation courses and work with faculty to identify and address areas of improvement.
- Adherence to University and Graduate School’s policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively and successfully with colleagues and other university faculty members.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree
- Significant experience with the IRB process
- Quantitative and qualitative publication experience
- Values consistent with the mission of the department and University
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Compassion and empathy
- Ability to provide and accept constructive feedback in a professional manner
- Proof of ability to work in the U.S.
