The Financial Aid Support Specialist provides administrative and clerical support to the Student Financial Center, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role serves as the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors, delivering excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality. The specialist helps students navigate online resources, complete necessary applications, and utilize financial aid services. Additionally, they support office events, training sessions, and communication efforts, including managing incoming and outgoing communication from the Student Financial Center.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative & Clerical Support:
- Perform general administrative tasks such as data entry, document processing, and record maintenance.
- Maintain an organized front desk, providing a welcoming and professional environment.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies regarding confidentiality and information security.
Student & Public Engagement:
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
- Assist students with navigating the UC website, including applying for work-study jobs and accessing financial aid documents.
- Refer complex financial aid questions to the appropriate staff members.
- Support student workers by providing guidance and ensuring efficient office operations.
Events & Office Support:
- Assist with planning and executing campus financial aid events, workshops, and office training sessions.
- Manage digital graphics and content for office TV displays to provide up-to-date financial aid information.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve processes and enhance student engagement.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Experience in an administrative, customer service, or clerical role, preferably in higher education or financial aid.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and friendly responses to inquiries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software systems.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Work Environment:
- Standard office setting with frequent interaction with students and staff.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
