Position Summary
The Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions invites full-time faculty candidates for CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) Program Director. This role has a dual function of teaching and administration, leading and directing the program, including managing daily operations according to Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program's Standards and Guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Develops and maintains program curriculum according to CRNA and CCNE standards.
- Ensures compliance with the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program's Standards and Guidelines and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
- Reviews student applications and communicates with applicants regarding the application process.
- Conducts interviews with applicants as part of the Program Admissions Committee.
- Provides leadership and collaborates with the Assistant Program Director in finding, carrying out contracts, and coordinating clinicals for the CRNA students.
- Lets and prepares students for pre-clinical orientation.
- Performs clinical and didactic evaluation of students.
- Promotes instructor development and contributes to annual faculty evaluations within the program.
- Leds the program quality assurance initiatives including annual internal program evaluation and the program accreditation processes.
- Create a program environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA) practice and professional issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in the use of instructional technology.
- Ability to actively engage students in the learning process.
- Ability to conduct respectful relationships with students both in and outside the classroom.

Required Education
- Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP)
- Combination of a Master of Nurse Anesthesia and Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Leadership
- PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution of higher education.
Required Work Experience
- Five (5) years of full-time equivalent CRNA clinical experience.
- Three (3) years of CRNA teaching and leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with program and curriculum development.
Requirements
- Current certification/recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Current unencumbered license or privilege to practice as a registered professional nurse (RN) and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Texas or ability to obtain by assignment start date.
