Position Summary
Groundskeepers are responsible for maintaining the grounds and landscaping of assigned areas on all UIW campuses. This includes keeping UIW grounds areas clean and orderly, free of trash and debris. Groundskeepers report to Groundskeeper Supervisor.

Description Of Job Duties
- Mowing lawns.
- Trimming hedges.
- Watering plants.
- Installing sprinkler and irrigation systems.
- Maintaining gardens and lawns, including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching and applying pesticides.
- Operating and maintaining garden and landscaping equipment.
- Scheduling specialty services such as ground leveling or patio installation.
- Ordering supplies and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to use and operate grounds equipment and/or tools (e.g. leaf sweepers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, blowers, hand truck, power lift gate, hammer drill, chain saw, basic hand tools, etc.).
- Ability to repairi/maintain irrigation systems.
- Ability to plant shrubs, trees, flowers, pruning trees/shrubs.
- Ability to operate riding, push lawn mowers, and other turf related equipment.
- Ability to operate a power washer.
- Ability to operate a trash compactor.
- Experience in minor equipment maintenance (e.g. oil changes, blade sharpening, filter changes, spark plug changes, use of grease gun, etc.).
- Experience in work that requires customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .

- Minimum of five (5) years experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent

Work Hours
- Monday through Friday 8 hours per day with flexibility near the standard UIW business hours of 8am to 5pm.
- Note that start/end time flexibility for supervisor and crew will be based on seasonality and corresponding outside temperature
- Must be able to pull, push and lift 50 pounds.
- Work in inclement weather and exposure to heat, rain and cold.
- Work in high noise environments
