Position Description

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions

The University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (McGeorge), invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Public Policy Program. The Program offers both the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of Public Policy (MPP) degrees. Founded in 2016, it is the first program in the nation to offer these degrees within an ABA accredited law school.

This faculty position will be expected to teach four (4) core areas of competency in the MPA / MPP curriculum :

  • Law as a foundation and tool for public action
  • Leading and managing organizations
  • Developing and implementing public policy
  • Analyzing and presenting data

Other responsibilities include advise students on academic and career development. Service to support the program such as participation in orientation and recruitment events, promotion of the Public Policy program, participation in events / symposia to enhance the reputation of the law school. Maintain research and / or consulting programs in public policy or administration. Engage in professional development including presenting and attending conferences, writing, and other activities that will enhance the Public Policy program and McGeorge School of Law.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Urban and Public Affairs or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years professional or college level teaching experience in public administration or public policy. Foreign equivalent degree is acceptable.

    Hiring Range

    102,500.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
