We prioritize policy and decision-making that demonstrates awareness of, and responsiveness to, the ways socio-cultural forces related to race, gender, ability, sexuality, socio-economic status, etc. impede or propel students, faculty, and staff.Essential Functions Conceive, discover, design and deliver audience-focused messages from the school of dentistry.Use visual communication to increase the school’s engagement with faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and the public.Ensure that all messages adhere to the identity standards of the dental school and the University.Champion the use of best practices and industry standards.Consult with clients, schedule and monitor vendors, document time and costs.Contribute to the update of current graphics organizational and equipment needs.Remain current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, reviewing professional publications, attending training and / or courses and by participating in professional organizations.Learn new skills in pre-press, digital photography and software as needed to stay up to date with advances in the field.Contribute to the fulfillment of the school’s mission by serving on committees, participating in Town Halls and Strategic Planning.Contribute to the overall success of the division by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean of Marketing and Communications.Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of : All facets of visual communications related to the design and digital production of messages including typography, composition, photography, color image processing and correction.Ability to : Utilize the Mac OS, Adobe CC software, Google Suite and MS Office 365, Epson printers, Pacific printers, scanners, file sharing and data back-up systems.Experience : Minimum of two years of graphic design / visual arts.Education : BS, BA or BFA.Working Conditions : Position is full-time, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.Requires occasional travel to various vendors / consultant locations for quality assurance and face to face networking.Preferred Qualifications Ability to : Work independently and collaboratively.Adapt to the unique requirements of individual projects.Combine creative and critical thinking to allow information and ideas to be organized, decisions to be made, situations to be improved, and knowledge to be gained.Focus on solutions.Utilize design-thinking as a proven and repeatable problem-solving protocol.Demonstrate creative, technical and analytical skills.Communicate effectively with administration, faculty, clients, staff, students and the public.Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.Utilize excellent public relations skills in interacting with clients, faculty, students, staff and the public.Other : Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative but not definitive of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.Requires sitting majority of the working day; occasional standing, reaching, bending and walking.Occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.Hiring Range Hiring Range $62,838.22 - $80,399.60 per year.
