Associate Director of Development for Engineering & Computer Science

Join Our Team at The University of Tulsa as a Fundraising Champion for the College of Engineering and Computer Science!

Are you passionate about making a difference and driving positive change? We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team and help secure sustaining gifts that support the innovative and impactful work of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Your efforts will directly contribute to increasing the number of donors who give annually at the $1,000-$10,000 level, ultimately boosting the amount of private annual support raised each year.

Key Responsibilities :

Fundraising Execution :

  • Engage and Inspire : Maintain an active schedule of identifying, soliciting, cultivating, and stewarding calls and visits to donors and new prospects with philanthropic capacity.
  • Personal Portfolio Management : Manage a personal portfolio of approximately 150 prospects and donors, with specific goals and benchmarks to secure leadership annual gifts in the range of $1,000-$10,000 .
  • Collaborate with Faculty : Partner with key faculty on individual and corporate donor calls, including setting and attending appointments, events, and follow-ups.
  • Craft Compelling Proposals : Develop formal proposals for donor prospects and work with the Senior Director of Advancement Communications to create impactful presentations.
  • Team Collaboration : Work closely with University departments and Advancement colleagues to engage them in ways that advance TU's leadership annual gift level fundraising objectives.

Planning and Analysis :

  • Strategic Insights : Analyze and evaluate current and past donor trends for college constituencies, targeting segments of donors and prospects for personalized attention.
  • Fundraising Agenda : Help design a fundraising agenda that supports and advances the academic goals of the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
  • Goal Setting : Collaborate with the Director of Development to set specific dollar and donor goals for the college and meet these fundraising goals annually.
  • Volunteer Engagement : Coordinate the development activities of volunteer advisory boards, support Development Director in expanding board membership, and work with individual board members as fundraising volunteers.
  • Donor Development : Assist in identifying major annual fund prospects, increasing the number of new annual donors, reinstating lapsed donors, and upgrading current contributors.
  • Strategic Planning and Reporting :

  • Team Strategy Meetings : Attend monthly meetings of the major gifts team to develop strategies and ensure coordinated contact strategies for selected prospects.
  • Progress Monitoring : Monitor and report on progress toward dollar goals, retention, and acquisition of donors for the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
  • Special Projects : Work with Development staff on special funding initiatives, including conferring with program heads or department chairs on project descriptions and needs, and coordinating the cultivation / solicitation of donors.

    Required Qualifications

    Required Qualifications :

    Equivalent Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Must have 2 or more years of experience in higher education development or non-profit fundraising setting.
  • Experience building relationships internally and externally with donor and / or strategic partners.
  • Excellent written and communications skills.
  • Strong customer services skills.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion and ability to work some nights and weekends as required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge / Skill / Ability

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively about engaging donors nationally, and to develop plans of action and follow through.
  • Ability to work with little supervision but collaboratively in a complex and energetic environment.
  • Ability to professionally represent the university by demonstrating pride and loyalty.
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Physical Demands

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

    Must be able to lift at least 15lbs routinely

    Must be able to navigate an office setting
