Job Description
The College of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position, at the associate or full professor level, with expertise in tribology and / or materials science and engineering with a focus on applications to energy-related areas such as hydrogen, carbon capture utilization and storage, and alternative energy systems. Faculty members are expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program, teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute to the department's academic and service missions. Excellence in written and verbal communication is essential.
The level of appointment will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and level of achievement. Appointment at the associate professor level will be considered for applicants with a proven track record as an independent researcher with demonstrated success in acquiring external research funds and mentoring graduate students, along with a growing national reputation. Appointment at the full professor level will be considered for applicants with a distinguished record of research achievement and publication, numerous Ph.D. graduates, and an established international reputation as a researcher. The applicant selected will be seated in the college's department that is determined to be the best match in terms of teaching and research interests, or a joint appointment in more than one department, in consultation with the dean of the college.
