Job Description
Job Summary :
The Executive Director of Educational Technologies is charged with finding, recommending, and implementing information systems for the benefit of student learning at The University of Tulsa, supporting both campus-based and online programs. Reporting to the Provost with strong connections to the Chief Information Officer and Vice President for Strategy and Innovation, this role works closely with deans, faculty members, and the student success team to understand their needs and deliver solutions that enhance the academic experience and outcomes for a diverse and evolving body of student populations.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities) :
- Develops and implements a comprehensive academic and learning technology strategy that aligns with the university's mission, vision, and goals.
- Manages the selection, acquisition, development, integration, and maintenance of software and applications that support teaching, learning, and research, such as learning management systems, courseware, e-portfolios, assessment tools, etc.
- Ensures the security, reliability, performance, and scalability of academic and learning technology software and applications.
- Provides technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students.
- Works with the Henneke center to offer workshops in both technology and pedagogical best practice.
- Supports individual faculty to incorporate learning technologies to achieve better student learning.
- Establishes and enforces standards, policies, and best practices for academic and learning technology software and applications development and management.
- Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of academic and learning technology software and applications and provides regular reports and feedback.
- Stays abreast of emerging technologies and trends and assesses their value for the university, recommending and implementing promising solutions for the benefit of the campus.
- Manages the academic and learning technology budget and resources.
- Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
