What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at University of Tulsa?
The Laboratory Technician is primarily responsible for assisting students and faculty in the selections, installation and upkeep of academic laboratory equipment used for instruction but will also have general technical and facilities duties for the college. The position reports to the Director of Operations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : High School diploma or equivalent certification. Minimum one year of experience as a laboratory technician or related field. Two plus years of experience in an engineering related technician position. Knowledge, experience and the ability to provide guidance and training to students and other personnel in Labview. Vocational training in any of the following areas (or combination of areas) : welding, lab technician, lathe and mill operation, mechanical training. KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY : Mechanical aptitude and basic laboratory technical skills. Good writing skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of Labview or willingness / aptitude to lean. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals with varied backgrounds. Self-starter and ability to work independently without close supervision. Knowledge of safe working practices in compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements. Able to work a varied schedule.
