Job Summary
Independently and with some basic oversight, completes various routine pre-award and post-award administration of research grants &/or contracts. This position is evenly-split with effort for both pre-award and post-award activities.
Responsibilities
- Proficient with all the duties and responsibilities of a GCO I.
- Handles all faculty activity and project balances.
- Independently completes basic proposals for a variety of sponsors. Completes basic award administration for activities including award set-up, modification, and maintenance for the department’s most common sponsors/ With basic oversight from a supervisor, completes complex proposal preparation (e.g. multi-project proposals, institutional training grants, contract proposals) for a variety of sponsors. Completes complex award administration for activities including award set-up, modification, and maintenance.
- Reviews proposals, helps with budgets and knows granting rules/guidelines.
- Award review/tracking. Completes project-related A/P and A/R activities for complex contracts. Reviews budget categories for reporting activities. Responsible for post-award spending and accounting.
- Approves all research group Ushop orders -assists with sole source and high value purchases.
- Demonstrates familiarity and expanded knowledge of various sponsor policies required for proposal submission, appropriately utilizes University, department, and most common sponsor systems and processes for proposal preparation, submission, and tracking.
- Problems encountered are varied, but generally with precedent. Resolution may require some analysis and interpretation, requiring innovation and creativity.
- Has developed specialized skills or is multi-skilled through job-related training and on-the-job experience.
- Handles all faculty activity and project balances by reviewing proposals, sending monthly balance reports, creating a quarterly faculty balance report for the executive committee, sending a quarterly email giving granting agency deadlines, alerting of new rules, etc., and has GFA signing authority on all activities/projects.
- Serves as department liaison with OSP , grants accounting.
- Administers department ePAR submissions.
- Creates and posts eJournals and processes cost transfers.
- Processes departmental deposits for faculty activities and projects.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of relevant work experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Preferences
Background in post-award spending, experience working in a large research department, familiarity with CIS , Management Reports, and DJobs.
