Job Summary
The Student Philanthropy & Engagement Center ( SPEC ) brings students together to advance the university through philanthropy and engagement from alumni, family, and friends. Student representatives make outbound phone calls to maintain and update records, share university experiences, and request philanthropic support. Calling raises the number of university supporters, funds for scholarships and campus resources, and the amount of participation in the university community. This role requires strong verbal communication and active listening skills, maintenance of performance and attendance standards, and positive representation of the university. There are regular incentives and team activities.
This position requires in-person work. Employees hired for this role will be required to be physically located in the center during scheduled shifts. The center is located at the University of Utah campus within the University Advancement Office (lower campus). Shifts are only scheduled for weekdays at this time.
Responsibilities
- Making outbound phone calls and holding conversations with diverse groups.
- Representing the university in a positive light.
- Navigation of calling and payment software systems.
- Continual Learning and Ongoing training.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current University of Utah Student
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to speak positively about the university and build rapport with alumni, students, and others.
- Attention to detail in maintaining and updating prospect records
