Job Summary
The Guest & Member Experience Team ( GMET ) Associate position at the Natural History Museum of Utah plays a key role in the successful daily operation of the museum. This position is responsible for ensuring outstanding guest service, maintaining communication and workspace management, and conveying a general knowledge of the museum’s collections, galleries, and policies. Position also includes the opportunity for associates to get involved in and learn about other areas of the Philanthropy and Communications Team through participation in department led events.
Responsibilities
The Guest & Member Experience Team Associate will be responsible for:
- Greeting and welcoming incoming and outgoing guests of NHMU
- Demonstrating customer service standards to both internal and external guess via positive professional communication
- Knowing and enforcing the policies and procedures of the GMET department and museum at large.
- Using de-escalation strategies to help and solve Guest and Member complaints before escalating them to the GMET Lead
- Being aware of daily activities and programs happening in the museum
- Maintaining Gallery and Info Desk cleanliness
- Using and maintaining the tools provided in the hosting bags, including cleaning cloths, trash bags, hand sanitizer, objects of interest, business cards, etc.
- Proactively engaging with guests in the galleries and other public spaces.
- Anticipate Guest and Member needs, and answer questions to ensure them a fun and safe visit.
- Having an intermediate level knowledge of the galleries to help answer questions and enhance the guest experience.
- Attending monthly staff meetings and/or after-hours events

Minimum Qualifications
Excellent customer service and human relations skills; the ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and resolve issues. May be required to stand for a number of hours at a time, lift 10 lbs., and/or walk up and down stairs multiple times.
