JOB DESCRIPTION
The Mental Health Clinician plays a vital role in the Addiction Treatment Center at The University of Vermont Medical Center. The ATC offers a range of evidence-based outpatient services for individuals with primary substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
The Mental Health Clinician works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support patients in their recovery. Key responsibilities include :
- Evaluating new patients and diagnosing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders using established criteria
- Assessing the level of care needed using ASAM criteria
- Providing direct patient care, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy
- Consulting with primary care providers and other referring healthcare professionals
- Presenting cases at weekly clinical rounds
- Coordinating clinical services with internal and external providers
- Developing and updating patient plans of care
- Ensuring continued care and discharge planning
- Maintaining timely and accurate documentation
