Posting Summary
Provide high level research administrative services for both the pre- and post-award management of intra- and extramural funding administered by the Larner College of Medicine (LCOM) academic departments and UVM Cancer Center (UVMCC). Research focus areas include fundamental, translational, population science, and clinical research. Activities include project coordination of extramural funding applications as a thought partner with PI’s and institutional grant/research officers to manage internal processes. Manage progressive levels of research administration and financial oversight including acting as a team-lead to positions supporting research activities. Post-award administration of all funded research to include financial management and reconciliation for all sponsored funds managed by the LCOM and UVMCC and adherence to sponsor deadlines. Manage complex processes, adhere to strict deadlines and external sources while maintaining flexibility to reprioritize.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and two to four years of research administration experience required. Comprehensive knowledge of grants and contract administration and policies (especially NIH) required. Experience with pre-award grants administration and familiarity with multiple sponsor types required. Ability to work independently and as a team member, research and resolve problems, meet deadlines, troubleshoot, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction required. Ability to multi-task and utilize effective organizational and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deadline driven work within a collaborative, matrixed, multi-departmental setting.
Desirable Qualifications
Previous experience in academic research or in NCI designated, or emerging cancer center. Experience with complex grant mechanisms such as P01, T32 or P30. Post-award experience.
