Vice President, Fraud Prevention – Full Time – Charlottesville, VA 

SUMMARY: 

The VP – Fraud Prevention is responsible for UVA Community Credit Union's Fraud Prevention program, with the primary goal of protecting member assets and financial information. This individual will develop and implement comprehensive strategies for fraud prevention, detection, and investigation across the entire organization and will also be responsible for the management of the fraud prevention team. Beyond prevention, the incumbent will coordinate the Credit Union’s response to fraud incidents, including recommendations for procedural and system enhancements to minimize potential recurrence. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement fraud prevention strategies designed to minimize the risk of fraud and loss exposure to member assets and financial information. This includes the development and continuous improvement of systems, controls, and procedures related to fraud prevention.
• Lead a team of fraud prevention specialists, cultivating an environment of positive engagement and development. 
• Monitor the continuously evolving fraud risk landscape to proactively adapt fraud prevention strategies.
• Analyze and report data to the Credit Union’s Executive Leadership Team on the state of the fraud prevention program, including realized and prevented losses, as well as the outcomes of fraud prevention activities. 
• Lead the response to fraud incidents, including the coordination of appropriate resources and teams to minimize loss exposure to credit union membership. This will also include responsibility for communication to appropriate parties and regulatory authorities.
• Partner with the credit union’s training department to design and deliver training programs for all credit union employees to support the goals of the fraud prevention program.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable banking laws and regulations that impact fraud prevention and mitigation activities.
• Perform necessary reviews for new products and services to ensure fraud risk for the credit union’s membership is mitigated as appropriate.

Requirements

Qualifications: 

• Ten or more years of experience in similar or related roles within the financial services industry. Preference extended to those with five or more years in leadership.
• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credentials will be held by preferred candidates.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.  Equivalent education or experience considered. 
• Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written

Salary : $150,000 - $180,000
