This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Valley Medical Center and will be narrowed during the interview process based on several factors, including (but not limited to) the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.

TITLE: MRI Technologist
JOB OVERVIEW: Works under the guidance of the MRI Tech Manager. Responsible for keeping the procedure room and work area neat and clean. Maintains close communication with the department manager. Performs a variety of technical procedures that requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Complies with all medical center policies and procedures and maintains a professional appearance and demeanor. Acts in support and in the best interest of the Valley Medical Center.

PREREQUISITES:
Excellent verbal interpersonal communication skills.
Medical terminology knowledge.
Computer data entry experience.
Ability to perform multi tasks simultaneously.
Competence in radiation use and safety.
Completion of a formal Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program or equivalent training.
Candidate can be eligible if they meet one of the following pathways:
MR certified RT(MR)(ARRT) through ARRT
MR certified through ARMRIT
Registered Technologist RT(R)(MR)(ARRT)
Registered Technologist RT(R)(ARRT) and MR registry eligible to be completed within 1 year required.
Washington State Technologist Certification when applicable.
Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Siemens MRI experience preferred.

Demonstrates the ability to maintain and convey a positive team concept.

UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires working as part of a team at the direction of the lead technologist or designate to maintain effective operations. This includes lifting and carrying x-ray folders throughout the facility, weighing one half pound to fifty pounds. Requires standing 50% of the day and reaching up overhead up to six and a half feet and bending to the floor. Requires moving quickly from one area to another under changing conditions depending on the workload. Requires ability to file accurately by color as well as alphabetical and numerical. Requires typing, legible penmanship, and computer data entry skills. Excellent telephone skills are essential. Requires patient escort and transport ability, with the need to push patients in wheelchairs and on stretchers. Requires working around x-ray equipment and wearing lead aprons weighing twenty pounds. Regular and punctual attendance is a condition of employment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Responsibilities and Competencies:
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Greet and prepare patients for procedures.
Review physician orders and patient information including questionnaires for accuracy.
Explain procedures to patients. Review patient histories with attending radiologist prior to scanning.
Perform intravenous injections are required.
Provide sedation and monitor patients as required.
Set up scan rooms and equipment and perform scans.
Provide quality diagnostic scans in a timely manner.
Document any reactions or incidences relating to the patient's visit.
Report any scanner problems immediately to the lead technologist.
Be available to work after hours to accommodate referrals.
Operate and maintain current competency if all medical equipment within department.
Stock linen and medical supplies including those for the crash cart.
Keep the work area safe and clean.
Accurately complete billing and patient information.
Know the location of safety and emergency supplies and equipment at all times.
Accurately complete all required forms and paperwork.
Attend all required meetings and perform other duties as required.
Maintain all required licensing to operate all imaging equipment regularly.
Implements safe, competent, and efficient care to patients within hospital and departmental policies, procedures and standards across a variety of populations and complexity of situations.
Demonstrates proficiency in the use and location of interventional and invasive supplies.
Maintain daily safety checklists for equipment as required.
Document equipment problems in service logs and initiate service calls.
Transports and transfer patients as necessary utilizing appropriate safety resources.
Takes on-call responsibility as scheduled and arrives within 30 minutes of notification.
