HARBORVIEW’S ETHNOMED DEPARTMENT has an outstanding opportunity for a PROGRAM OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

WORK SCHEDULE
  • 100%FTE
  • Day Shift
  • May need to occasionally work on weekends and evenings to accommodate community meetings and events.

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    EthnoMed was created as a resource for Harborview Medical Center providers working with refugee, immigrant, and migrant patients and families. Over the past 30 years, the EthnoMed program has established itself as a cultural bridge, providing the following key services:
    1) Educating providers on clinical and cultural topics relevant to patient care
    2) Providing patients with culturally tailored health resources
    3) Conducting community engagement, education, and outreach throughout King County
    4) Creating opportunities for students and medical trainees to work with diverse patient populations

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accountable for EthnoMed's student/volunteer engagement program
  • Serve as EthnoMed’s primary contact and liaison with partners and academic programs.
  • Recruit student authors by preparing and posting project descriptions to university list servers and other recruitment sites, and evaluating applicants
  • Responsible for the development and documentation of active and future project plans
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential obstacles/delays, proactively suggest and implement solutions
  • Design, create and update program brochures and flyers and other promotional materials
  • Collaborate with Web Information Specialist to regularly audit current published information, flagging content for recommended updates and identifying
    possible future projects
  • Maintain program reporting data for internal and external requirements, including grant reports, ISD administrative meetings, and more

  • REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Anthropology, Pre-Medicine, journalism, communications, sociology, or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience, preferably in a project management role
  • Experience in cross-cultural engagement, cross-cultural healthcare, and/or working with diverse populations
  • Strong project management skills. Ability to prioritize work appropriately, juggling short-term and long-term deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently with minimal supervision and ability to
    interact positively with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to lead qualitative inquiry (e.g., via literature review, group discussions and interviews) and synthesize diverse input.
  • Able to write and edit proficiently. Fluent English communication skills, orally and in writing
  • Experience and/or strong interest in multimedia, social media, and website content development
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed to accommodate community meetings and events

  • DESIRED
  • Masters degree (Public Health, Social Work, Communications, or related field) and/or experience working closely with graduate and post-graduate level
    students and trainees.
  • Strong interest in public speaking and/or networking
  • Experience working with the public or representing an organization to other organizations
  • Experience working with community-based nonprofits
  • Experience with multimedia production, including videos, social media, digital resources, etc.
  • Experience with design and layout of written materials and web-based content
  • Have knowledge of, or ability to learn, use of devices and software for capturing and producing content in multimedia formats (e.g., videography,
    photography, audio-editing, Adobe Creative Suite), and in various languages/fonts
  • Experience with grant writing and reporting
