UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central information technology organization for the University of Washington, responsible for strategic planning, oversight, and direction of the UW’s IT infrastructure, resources, and services. UW-IT provides critical technology support to all three campuses, UW Medicine, and research operations around the world, partnering with the UW community to enable innovation, learning, discovery, and service." Data & Applications (D&A) is the division in UW-IT that runs the university’s academic and business systems, productivity platforms, enterprise integrations, learning analytics and data for decision-making and is also responsible for the accessibility of UW’s digital resources.
Student Information Systems (SIS) a unit within UW-IT, develops and maintains software systems that directly support the entire student lifecycle - admissions, academic planning, registration, financial aid, and student accounts - as well as academic support systems such as curriculum management tools. SIS actively partners with owners and users of these systems to evolve and modernize them (e.g. tri-campus business stakeholders, administrators, student advisers, and students themselves). We are seeking a Business Analyst with project management and service management experience to join us in these efforts. We are especially interested in those with a background in higher education or academic support services.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or experience.
Minimum of four years’ experience with COBOL and mainframe database management systems.
Experience in building, integrating, and supporting software solutions and systems.
Demonstrated ability to work in a professional manner in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team environment, across different application areas and with different client and technical teams.
Proficient in all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
Demonstrated expert knowledge, or certification in, a wide range of enterprise architecture methodologies, technologies, and tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and skills is essential.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
An effective team player who enjoys collaboration with strong interpersonal skills.
DESIRED:
Knowledge and experience with WFL, DMS II, CANDE, and COBOL85 in the Unisys MCP mainframe environment.
Knowledge and skills in developing backend APIs and web services.
Knowledge and experience with java, C#, .NET, XML, SQL/MySQL.
Experience in enterprise-scale administrative systems at a major research university, particularly student administration systems
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Experience with software architecture patterns (e.g. MVC)
Experience with large-scale procurement, payables and receivables systems
