Job Summary
This position will serve as an assistant to a preschool Lead Teacher in the UWG Bright from the Start Pre-K program in the COE Early Learning Center. Duties and responsibilities are: Assist Lead Teacher in providing developmentally appropriate teaching for each child based on evidence documented by planning and executing appropriate activities; Assist in gathering evaluative evidence according to grant guidelines; Assist in maintaining appropriate classroom behavior intervention systems; Assisting Lead Teacher in maintaining records and completing appropriate documentation including, but not limited to: lesson planning, checklists, student information, portfolios; Performing non-instructional duties as necessary to the program including, but not limited to: maintaining the safety of the Pre-K children, snack preparation and distribution, maintaining daily cleaning/sanitation, laundry; Assisting Lead Teacher in communicating with families to include newsletters, emails, and telephone calls; Assisting with supervision/mentoring of UWG student workers; Other duties as assigned. This is an annual contract for which continuation is based on availability of grant funding on a yearly basis.
Responsibilities
Assisting with instruction and assessment -
Assists Lead Teacher in providing instruction to and assists in gathering assessment of Pre-K Children, including but not limited to: providing developmentally appropriate teaching for each child based on evidence documented by planning and executing appropriate activities, gathering evaluation evidence according to grant guidelines, maintaining appropriate classroom management systems.
Assist with Lead Teacher with Supervision of UWG Students -
Assist with Lead Teacher with Supervision of UWG Students.
UWG duties and responsibilities -
All other duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the University.
Assisting in Record Keeping -
Assists Lead Teacher in maintaining records and completing appropriate documentation including, but not limited to: lesson planning, checklists, student information, portfolios.
Non-Instructional duties -
Performs non-instructional duties as necessary to the program including, but not limited to: maintaining the safety of the Pre-K children, snack preparation and distribution, maintaining daily cleaning/sanitation, laundry.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma
Other Required Qualifications
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or credentials/degree in Early Childhood.
Required Experience
Must be able to work effectively with children younger than five years of age.

Preferred Experience
Previous work in a school setting with young children.
Proposed Salary
Salary is based on the Georgia State Base Salary Scale for Teachers.
