Job Summary

Installs security measures to protect campus systems and information infrastructure. Provides timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks/intrusions, or anomalous activities. Creates, monitors, and maintains safeguards to ensure the security of all systems on campus.

Responsibilities

Distinguishes possible attacks from benign activities within the enterprise: Directs the continuous advancement of a cohesive strategy for the university's information security program; formulates strategic objectives and aims for compliance and risk mitigation; and proactively encourages initiatives to enhance information security awareness within the institution. Serves as a mediator, consultant, and facilitator in reconciling IT security and risk mitigation with business needs and expenditures. Establishes security criteria and executes security measures that align seamlessly with university objectives.

Collaborates with stakeholders to resolve computer security incidents and vulnerability compliance: Engages with IT security authorities across the university to ensure that controls for technical, procedural, data, and physical security, personnel security, information asset disposition, disaster recovery, and business continuity are adequately addressed, documented, and managed. Ensures adherence to the organization's information security rules and procedures by workers, contractors, partners, and other third parties, and escalates issues to the relevant department managers or administrators. Evaluates the university's information security strategies, protocols, and methodologies. Collaborates with the university's IT professionals, departments, auxiliaries, and external entities to formulate and revise the university's security plans, procedures, and processes as required.

Documents and escalates incidents (including event history, status, and potential impact for further action) that may cause ongoing and immediate impact to the environment: Conducts security audits, identifies potential internal and external information security risks, and performs risk and cost-benefit analyses to establish suitable levels of security controls and systems monitoring, ensuring adherence to privacy and information security policies and procedures.

Vulnerability and patch management of Windows servers: Addresses IT security incidents; formulates reporting and communication strategies for IT security events; assembles ad hoc teams of suitable professionals to oversee IT security issues.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Computing from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.


Required Experience

Four or more (4 ) years in information technology or cybersecurity.

Master's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Computing from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field; and experience with an enterprise log management system or SIEM (i.e., Splunk, Elastic, AlienVault, etc.), OSCP, GPEN, LPT or similar preferred. Microsoft Azure administration experience. Microsoft 365 administration experience, including Purview and Defender Vulnerability/Patch Management of Servers. Experience in the implementation of processes and procedures for cybersecurity reporting and metrics activities; Network , Security

Proposed Salary

$63,548 - $75,000 Annually. Paid on a Monthly Basis.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Able to apply techniques for detecting host and network-based intrusions using intrusion detection technologies. Able to accurately and completely source all data used in intelligence, assessment and/or planning products. Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption). Knowledge of key concepts in security management (e.g., Release Management, Patch Management). Knowledge of scripting language (e.g. BASH, PowerShell). Knowledge of system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques, network systems management principles, and tools. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity, defense, policies, regulations, and privacy. Knowledge of cyber threats, vulnerabilities and their impact Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and access control methods. Knowledge of encryption algorithms and encryption methodologies Knowledge of scripting language (e.g. BASH, PowerShell).

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills. Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite). Strong attention to detail and follow up skills. Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette.

Physical Requirements:
Lifting ¿ up to 20lbs or greater Office Environment - Work normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
