Job Summary

This position requires keen organizational, communication, and intermediate data entry skills. Works in collaboration with the Admissions Office, Advising, and Academic Affairs to evaluate coursework for transfer students to determine the appropriate equivalencies based on University and Board of Regents policies and guidelines. This position will communicate transfer policy to various student, faculty, and staff constituencies; assures transfer policy compatibility with various other university programs and departments; and enhances a smooth transition to UWG for new transfer students. Considerable independent judgment is exercised in determining transfer credit applicability, articulation, and validating general core requirements.

Responsible for maintaining email communications, transfer transcript evaluations, processing credit by exams, and creating presentations to present for designated population of incoming and continuing transfer students, including but not limited to new transfers, readmits, non-traditional freshman, prior joint enrolled, post-baccalaureate degree seeking, and transient students. Work is performed under the direction of the Assistant Registrar for Transfer Operations.

Responsibilities

1-
Perform complex and technical duties in the evaluation of student transcripts, which includes evaluating coursework in a timely manner for transfer students to determine appropriate transfer equivalencies within University and Board of Regents policies and guidelines by reviewing incoming course descriptions and comparing to UWG courses and degree programs for potential transferable credit, while ensuring the student receives maximum possible general core curriculum credit by reviewing Degree works/Wolf Watch upon completing the official evaluation. Unofficial transcript evaluations are completed for prospective students, and to assist Undergraduate Admissions with making admit decisions. The evaluation of coursework includes but is not limited to the following: college level transfer courses from regionally accredited institutions, Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Military credit (JST and DANTES), dual enrollment credit for incoming freshman applicants, college credits for currently enrolled undergraduate students taking courses at another institution (transient processes), returning students (readmits), international transcripts, transfer credit re-evaluations, and graduate transfer coursework.

Responsible for maintaining communications concerning University and Board of Regents transfer policies, processes, and procedures with various student, faculty, and staff constituencies to ensure transfer policy compatibility with various other University programs and departments. Primary types of communication are email, phone, meetings and presentations (in-person or virtual), but may include one-on-one sessions with students, faculty, and staff members. Works in collaboration with University campus partners such as Undergraduate, Graduate, and International Admissions; Momentum Center (MC); Professional and Faculty Advisors, and Academic Affairs to communicate student requirements and information to students through various channels.

Assist with development and maintenance of the Banner transfer articulation module, equivalency catalogs, and internal documentation for transfer processes. Perform routine maintenance of the GAtracs database through uploading changes to the transfer equivalencies and test score credits awarded at UWG. Research transfer credit barriers that commonly impede student progress and assist the Assistant Registrar over Transfer Operations with updating policies, processes, and procedures to improve student transferability. Additional primary responsibilities include but is not limited to running and processing reports for End of Term processes and various reports to ensure students are satisfying specific requirements based on their transfer credits.

Educating students at Transfer Orientation and Transfer Preview Days, which includes collaborating with Momentum Center, New Student Programs, Undergraduate Admissions, and Advising. Assist team with processing and review reports to complete orientation processes. Attend Transfer Orientation and Transfer Preview Days to present and communicate transfer policies and processes. Assist with preparation for commencement to include working at the ceremony; other types of duties include but are not limited to graduation fair, social media, attending workshops, updating website, and other duties as assigned by the Assistant/Associate Registrar/Registrar. May assume responsibility for the transfer area in absence of the Assistant Registrar for Transfer Operations.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High School Diploma / GED

Required Experience
Five years administrative experience. Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel required; must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to facilitate and foster effective working relationships with students, parents, administrators, faculty and staff, and work autonomously on assigned tasks and projects.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. One year of higher education experience, preferably in the Registrar's Office or a student services department. Preference is given to individuals with experience directly related to performing evaluation of transfer credits and general knowledge of Banner or other transfer articulation software. Preference is also given to applicants displaying a high aptitude to comprehend and grasp information quickly. High standards of ethics, honesty, integrity, and confidentiality. Must have the ability to lead a group, team or project, type 40-50 wpm, consistently produce work with high accuracy, and possess exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituencies.

Proposed Salary

$19.61-$20.50 Hourly. Paid on a Bi-Weekly Basis.

General knowledge of a student information system. (Banner, Peoplesoft, Campus Nexus,etc.)
