Position Summary

The Program Coordinator for Student Leadershipis a full-time professional staff position which is part of the Office of University Centers within the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL). In conjunction with the Associate Director of Student Engagement and Leadership, the Program Coordinator for Student Leadership is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive, strategic leadership development program. This individual will assume primary responsibility for advising UWL’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success, and UWL Fraternity & Sorority Life communities. This position will also assume shared responsibility of the Leadership and Involvement Center, alongside the Program Coordinator for Community Engagement and Belonging. This position will serve as an integral part of a collaborative team of Program Coordinators in the areas of Student Activities, Student Leadership, Community Engagement and Belonging, and Student Organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field plus 5 years of experience, or Master’s Degree in relevant field.
  • Experience working with student leadership development, Fraternity & Sorority Life and / or Campus Activities.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the willingness to work and communicate in a highly collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration, Student Development, Higher Education, or related field.
  • Experience working with Fraternity & Sorority Life communities.
  • Knowledge of student development and experience working with and advising college students.
  • Experience in the planning and management of small to large scale events and programs.
  • Experience in reviewing and executing performer / activity contracts.
  • Experience working with budgets.
  • Experience supervising graduate assistants, and / or student staff members.
  • Ability to develop student employee training programs.
  • Understanding of the importance of collaboration within the unit and the university.
  • Ability to problem solve and readily adapt to change.
  • An understanding of student development, student life, and university processes and business.
  • Ability to use and adapt to current technology and new technology and software.
  • Ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, student, and external groups.
  • Working conditions and environment

  • On occasion, this person must be able to work extended hours.
  • Some night and weekend hours are required.
  • Travel for professional development is possible.
