Position Summary

We seek a colleague who will be a dedicated teacher with the ability to teach introductory General Education classes in Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. This position involves teaching five three-credit courses each semester, or, depending on department needs, four three-credit courses plus a departmental service work assignment. Preferred areas of specialization include 1) Indigenous, 2) Queer or LGBTQI or, 3) Latine studies. Teaching instructional academic staff will not be evaluated based on research productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a field related to Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
  • Evidence of ability to teach courses associated with the lower level curriculum in the department associated with race, gender, sexuality, and socio-economic status
  • Evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching
  • Evidence of a commitment to an inclusive learning environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a field related to Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Evidence of teaching success in General Education courses
  • Specialization in either 1) Indigenous, 2) Queer or LGBTQI or, 3) Latine studies
  • Experience working with BIPOC and LGBTQ student communities.
  • Evidence of professional development as a teacher
  • Evidence of innovation as a teacher
  • Experience with outreach and recruiting activities
  • Working conditions and environment

    Classroom setting. High contact with students and / or other campus stakeholders.
