Job Summary:

This role will be responsible for developing, marketing and delivering entrepreneurially focused co-curricular activities at scale for University of Wisconsin - Madison students. This will include working with other campus partners to integrate and develop new programs across the campus. The initial pilots will start in the Fall of 2025.

In addition, the Director will be working with students as an instructor in undergraduate courses, serve as an advisor to entrepreneurship student organizations and will be responsible for the marketing, student advising, and administering of the other new initiatives (e.g. New Venture Creation badge. The Director will also teach in undergraduate courses, initially teaching 6 credits per year and growing to 9 credits per year.

The effectiveness of the role is measured by the quality of the students' learning experience and the number of students engaged.

Responsibilities:

Provides classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.
  • 15% Designs curriculum and/or techniques for instruction in a disciplinary area and suggests new ways of effective instruction in courses within that discipline
  • 5% Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements
  • 5% Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy and trains faculty and other instructional staff in use of said instructional techniques and programs
  • 5% Presents evaluations of teaching methods and techniques to those in the institution and elsewhere
  • 35% Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading
  • 5% Supervises the day-to-day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support as needed
  • 10% Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties
  • 10% Work with student organizations, other campus entrepreneurship groups to develop and market programs to students.
  • 10% Advise on curricular/co-curricular initiatives, provide administration, and student support for these programs (New Venture Creation Badge)

Required
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred
Master's Degree in Business or Entrepreneurship related studies

Qualifications:

Required:
Bachelor's degree with minimum of 5 years of professional/academic experience
or
Master's degree with minimum of 2 years of professional/academic experience

Preferred:
  • Demonstrated understanding of business problems and the entrepreneurial process
  • Experience leading experiential learning initiatives, preferably for undergraduates at a large US university
  • Teaching experience in higher education, preferably in the area of entrepreneurship
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, students, administration, and industry partners
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, market and manage long-term programs and initiatives
  • Knowledge of pedagogical and instructional design methodologies

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
